Impeller Coal Feeder Complete Working Principle Step By Step

The impeller coal feeder is used for unloading of coal from unloading trench and transfer it to the belt conveyor.

Impeller coal feeder is used to transfer the coal from the coal unloading trench to the conveyor belt and thus the belt conveyor will take away the coal.This procedure is to define the operation procedure, technical parameters, safety precautions and its major faults and its preventive measures for Impeller coal feeder. The impeller coal feeder shall be applicable for coal handling in slit type coal groove. 

When the impeller coal feeder performs a reciprocating motion along the coal groove, the impeller claw will enter into the slit type coal groove and the coal handling mechanism will promote the impeller rotation to continuously and evenly transfer the coal from the groove to the conveyor belt and thus the belt conveyor will take away the coal. In the range of rated output, the step less speed regulation can also be achieved in the transmission system by frequency conservation of the coal handling mechanism for the impeller coal feeder so that the coal feeding amount can be adjusted according to the demand. The coal handling transmission system and the travel system will be independently designed in the impeller coal feeder, which will be relatively independent to each other. The impeller coal feeder can perform reciprocating motion along the coal groove, without idle travel. 

Procedure

Check & prepare before start of Impeller coal feeder

1 Check the motor phase sequence by inching and observe the impeller rotating direction.
2 Check all transmission mechanism and bearing seals.
3 The coal groove must be empty before the idling running; and the gap between the impeller claw bottom and the loading surface of the whole coal groove shall be ensured.
4 Run the coal handling mechanism from low speed to high speed; keep it running at the maximum speed for at least half an hour. Check if the impeller speed is continuously adjustable within its speed control range.
5 Run the travel mechanism in a reciprocating way and check if there is rail gnawing and undercut phenomenon.
6 Run the coal handling mechanism and the travel mechanism simultaneously. Firstly, start the coal handling mechanism; and start the travel mechanism only when the impeller runs normally. For the shutdown sequence, firstly stop the travel mechanism and secondly stop the coal handling mechanism.
7 Carry out the interlocking operation of the impeller coal feeder and the belt type conveyor; when the local equipment is under interlocking conditions, the impeller can be started only after receiving the interlocking signal of the belt operation; when the belt conveyor stops, the impeller coal feeder will stop immediately.
8  Check the flexibility of opening and closing of all travel mechanism as well as stability, reliability and accuracy of their operations.
9 Check if all travel mechanism has impact or abnormal sound; the noise shall not exceed 85dB.
10 Check if all reducers are added with lubrication oil according to the requirements in the manual.

Local start & stop operation steps

1 Place the “local/remote” switch on the door of the local control box in the “local” state and the system in the “manual” operation mode.
2 In the state of manual operation, the host only monitors and does not control.
3  During manual operation, the starting state/walking, direction/running position of the impeller feeder, impeller speed under the monitoring of the main engine.
4 During manual operation, select the corresponding button on the control cabinet panel and the impeller feeder shall perform one-step operation. When impeller failure or walking failure occurs, the corresponding indicator lights are flashing, and the corresponding fault name is displayed in the status bar of the host.
5 Switch the “Frequency Transformer Power” to the power-on state, and power indicator of the transformer will be on. Values on the operation device is the frequency at previous stop. Set the frequency in a low range (4 ~ 10), and the frequency shall not be too high or low.
6 Press “Start Impeller” button, then the impeller will start in 3 seconds, the start indicator will be on, and the frequency will be displayed on the operation device.
7 Press “Motor Go Forward” (or “Motor Go Backward”) button, and the impeller feeder will go left (or right). When the motor reaches the left end (or right end), limit switch acts and motor stops. Then automatically go right (or left) about 5 seconds later. Thus, there is an automatic reciprocating coal feeder.
8 Press “Stop Impeller” button when you want it to stop, and the motor will stop and indicators will be off.
9 Switch “Frequency Transformer Power” to stop position.
10 When the interlocking switch is in the “interlocking position”, there is a linkage between the belt and the impeller coal feeder, otherwise there is none.

Operational preventive measures of Impeller coal feeder

1 Impeller feeder must be started after No.1 conveyor belt starts during operation.
2 On-duty operator shall not be far away from the running equipment during auto-feeding of impeller. The operator shall monitor the frequency monitoring device and main motor operation sound at all time in case of any abnormality.
3 Motor shall run smoothly and steadily, no significant vibration or abnormal sound at all rotation components.
4 Able to judge whether the impeller rotational speed matches up with actual regulated speed according to the sound of the blades and coal falling volume of the belt.
5 Do not completely rely on travel switch during reciprocating auto-feeding. Note the impeller operating conditions on the track, handle the problem in time if there is track slipping.
6 Stop the impeller and the belt conveyor and take protective measures before handling locked rotor or other abnormalities of the impeller.
7 Do not let one on-duty operator perform impeller cleaning works alone without guardian.
8 First check the impeller blade for twinning or blockage when it is protectively shutdown. Do not restart until the reason is clear.
9 Operator on duty shall monitor the belt working conditions along the guide chute during feeder’s operation.
10 Program-controller shall communicate and regulate the output of the equipment in time in case of no coal in the trough.
11 On-duty operator shall note the current change and impeller working conditions during auto-operation of impeller feeder and shut down the device immediately when there is any abnormality.
12 Electric motors and anchor bolts of the reducer shall be complete and fastened.

Preventive measures of Impeller coal feeder

The reducer motor will be maintained according to the instruction manual. The lubrication oil shall be replaced regularly. For the oil replacement, it will be necessary to drain out the lubrication oil inside, wash it clearly and then inject new lubrication oil into it.
1- The impeller coal feeder shall be maintained once every 6 months or a year (depending on the use status).
2- During the maintenance, all reducers of the impeller coal feeder shall be opened for check; if the tooth surface has serious pitting, it shall be replaced immediately.
3- Routine check shall be carried out by every shift in order to find out and handle problems timely in order to avoid accidents and affecting normal production.
4- For the replacement of oil, the power must be cut off to ensure safety. When it is found that the lubrication oil is obviously turbid, it will be recommended to replace it. After the disassembly or 5- overhaul of the reducer, it shall be run without load before normal operation for at least 24 hours generally.
6- After maintenance, install the electrical control cabinet, machine cables, trip limit system and others according to the electrical diagram.
7- Impeller coal feeder Pre-start conditions Check all transmission mechanism and bearing seals.

12- Check if there is collision between the impeller claw and the coal groove.
13- Impeller coal feeder interlock start condition Belt conveyor should be in running condition.
14- All components motors should be in normal state.
15- Impeller coal feeder trip condition The gear in the reducer is damaged.
16- Bearing of the reducer motor is damaged.
17- The travel motor temperature is exceeded from its range.
18- The installation key of the input shaft is damaged.
19- Communication interruption.
